February 10th-14th
This week we are learning all about the duties of the Unites States President! We will learn about their job, responsibilities, and even where they live. During our close read, we will learn about the important features we see in a text. Some of the things we will learn about are headers, labels, captions, photographs, table of contents and more! We will also learn about American symbols like the White House, Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial.
Vocabulary from the book:
- law: a set of rules people must follow
- speech: a talk given to an audience
- countries: large areas of land where people live
- military: the armed forces
- West Wing: a building connected to the White House where the president lives and works
- Oval Office: the room where the president does his work
- White House: the home and workplace of the U.S. president
- carpenters: people who build and fix things made out of wood
