Mach 25th-29th

Flowers! Who doesn’t love flowers? This week was all about plants. How do plants grow? What is the life cycle of a plant? What does a plant need to grow? These are all questions answered as we read and discussed Seed to Plant by Kristin Rattini.

Vocabulary from the book:
soil: the top layer of earth in which plants grow
seedling: a young plant
pollination: the moving of pollen from one flower to another
germination: the sprouting of a new plant from a seed

Here are just a few activities you can do at home with your child this Spring Break:
  • Have a fun and safe Spring Break with your family whether you are going on vacation or doing things at home!
  • Plant a flower together and take care of it as a family.
  • Draw a flower and label the parts of the flower together.
  • Spell sight words and CVC words as you pretend to grow like a flower. Start at the ground and come up to the top.

Our counselor Mrs. Waite gave a lesson on Monday all about safety to go with our health standard for the 9 weeks of which is accident prevention strategies at home, at school and in an aquatic environment.

For access to leveled books and their 20 minute reading time you could use:

Kids A-Z Login Instructions
Step 1: Go to www.kidsa-z.com
Step 2: Enter or choose the teacher's username, jrodgers4
Step 3: Their student number is their username and password

ReadingEggs is great for both reading and math! It is often our technology piece on homework.

The students can access ReadingEggs or MathSeeds once they login using their student ID number for both their username and password: https://readingeggs.com/

Save any sight word books or practice pages that come home and go over them as well as using flash cards.

Here are a couple websites to help with different strategies to use at home for sight words:

Refer to https://rodgersaddison.blogspot.com/2019/03/march-18th-22nd-explanation-of-quarter.html for detailed explanation of the Quarter 4 Standards.

Due to testing in the upper grades, our schedule will change beginning April 8th until the end of the year. Our specials time will move from 1:25-2:10 pm to 8:00-8:45 am.

Currently our lunch time (10:48-11:18) will stay the same.

Be on the look out for any other changes that could happen during the end of the school year.
