October 7th - 11th

What is round and orange and fun to carve? PUMPKINS! This week’s focus was all about pumpkins. We read and discussed Pumpkin Town by Katie McKy. We used the text to learn about conclusions of stories. We learned about the life cycle of a pumpkin and how we can make real life connections with stories we read.

Vocabulary from the book:
dull: not shiny
delicate: easily broken
marvel: to be amazed
sag: to hang down

distant: far away

Oct. 14th - Oct. 18th is our Book Fair in the Learning Commons, Conference Week and Early Dismissal at 12:30 pm. Please write any dismissal changes with the early release schedule in their agendas.

Their lunch is at 10:18-10:48 and our Specials is at 11:40-12:10.

Please arrive to your scheduled conference on time since the majority of the conferences are scheduled back to back. I will not go over the 30 minute time slot you are assigned because I have a tight schedule to keep.

We've continued to learn and examine our 2D (flat) and 3D (solid) shapes. While you're out and about during the break talk about shapes you see around you!

Triangle: a polygon with three sides
Rectangle: a parallelogram with four angles
Squares: a rectangle with four equal sides
