January 7th-11th
Welcome back! I hope everyone at a wonderful break! Quarter 2 report cards went home on Thursday this week. You get to keep the report card. All you need to do is sign the envelope and return it! Looking ahead to what we're working on in class read through this blog post, complete the homework (as it is standards based) and look in the column labeled Q3 on the report card.
I have a dream! Why do we celebrate Martin Luther King Day? Who was he? What does equality mean? We will discuss and answer these questions as we read and discuss Ron’s Big Mission by Corrine Naden. Our story element focuses will be connecting to the character’s in the story and making inferences based upon facts we learn. How can we make a difference?
Vocabulary from the book:
important: having great meaning; value
nervous: an anxious or fearful feeling
serious: marked by careful thinking or consideration
budge: to change position slightly
tucked: to place in a snug, secured spot
Here are just a few activities you can do at home with your child this weekend:
- Have a conversation with your child about what makes them unique and special.
- Write about a dream you have for our world.
Mrs. Waite our counselor came and did a lesson on Monday about the habit "Think Win-Win".
