Below is the link to sign up and volunteer for the Holiday Shoppe. The PTA still needs many volunteers for this event. Please help make this a special morning for the students.
What has eight legs and a lot of people are scared of? SPIDERS! This week was all about spiders. We read and discussed Spiders by Laura Marsh. We described characteristics of a spider. What kind of story is this? Is it fiction or nonfiction? How can we tell? In writing, we gave our opinion on if spiders would make good pets or not. Vocabulary from the book: egg sac: a silk pouch that protects and holds spider eggs fang: a biting mouth part of a spider or a large, sharp tooth in other animals prey: an animal that is eaten by other animals venom: poison I enjoyed getting to talk with everyone at conferences! Congratulations to our December Leader of the Month, Kenzie! Run, run as fast as you can, You can’t catch me, I’m the Gingerbread Man!! Who doesn’t love delicious gingerbread cookies! This week was all about gingerbread as we read Gingerbread Boy by Paul Galdone. We also read different versions of Gingerbread stories by different authors. We will do the same thing later on in the year with other fairy tales. Vocabulary from the book: sniff: to take in short breaths of air through the nose threshing: separating the grain or seeds field: a wide area of open land strut: to walk in proud of vain manner dared: to be careless enough to do something Here are just a few activities you can do at home with your child this weekend: Make gingerbread cookies.
