March 9th-13th and a little info on last week

This chair is too big! This chair is too small! This chair is just right! Our focus this week is all about the three bears. We will be continuing with fairy tales this week as we read The Three Bears by Paul Galdone. We will be discussing character, setting, and how we use the information in the story to retell. We will begin talking about opinions.

Vocabulary from the book:

  • trust: to rely on honesty
  • porridge: food made of cereal or grains
  • cooled: to let something not be so hot
  • peek: to look quickly
  • frightened: to cause fear or scare

Here are just a few activities you can do at home with your child this week:

  • Retell the story of The Three Bears.
  • Make mask props at home using paper plates or pictures on Popsicle sticks.
**Wednesday is an early release day for the students!**

We will be finalizing assessments this week for our upcoming report cards!

Last week in reading:

I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house down! Our focus this week is all about the three pigs. We will begin learning about fairy tales. The story of the week is The Three Little Pigs by Paul Galdone. We will listen and retell the story of the three little pigs discussing the sequential story elements: the beginning, the middle, and the end. We will also be discussing characters within the story and how we can retell stories ourselves.

Vocabulary from the book:
fortune: large amount of money or wealth
bundle: a group of items that have been tied together
huffed: breathed hard
blaze: a bright flame or fire

Here are just a few activities you can do at home with your child this week to review the Three Little Pigs from last week:
-Reenact the story of The Three Little Pigs together.
-Make the three little pigs’ houses using different types of food: pretzels as sticks, chocolate chunks as bricks, and potato sticks as hay.
