Quarter 4 Standards

Below is information I was planning on giving you regarding the last quarter of the school year. It is good information to know but under the current circumstances our learning is going to look a little different for the time being.

Quarter 4 Standards we will be working on:

  • Identifying all Upper and Lowercase Letters
  • Recognizing and Producing Rhyming and Non-Rhyming Words
  • Blends, segments onsets and rimes of single-syllable spoken words.
  • Isolates and pronounces the initial, middle vowel, and final sounds in CVC words.
  • Produces 23 consonant sounds.
  • Produces all short and long vowel sounds.
  • Reads 75 or more words
  • Asks and answers questions about key details in informational text.
  • Identifies main topic and retells key details.
  • Identifies the front and back cover, and title page. Names the author illustrator and defines the role of each in presenting the ideas or info.
  • Identifies basic similarities in and differences between two texts on the same topic.
  • Uses a combination of drawing, dictating, and writing to compose a piece of writing with detailed sentences.

This includes, quickly recognizing the cardinalities of less sets of objects, counting and producing sets of given sizes, counting the number of objects in combined sets, or counting the number of objects that remain in a set after some are taken away.
    • Understand addition as putting together and adding to, and understand subtraction as taking apart and taking from.
    • Students will model simple joining and separating situations with sets of objects, or eventually with equations.
    • Demonstrate the understanding of how objects can be joined (addition) and separated (subtraction) by representing addition and subtraction situations in various ways.
    • Solve problems presented in a story format (context) with a specific emphasis on using objects or drawings to determine the solution
    • Understand that set of 10 objects can be decomposed- broken into two sets (3 and 7) and still be the same total amount (10).
    • Pose information questions, collect data and organize and display results using objects, pictures and picture graphs.
    In this unit, students will:
    • Understand why it is important to be a good citizen.
    • Learn how American culture celebrates independence and Memorial Day.
    • Be introduced to historical events and figures within a given holiday.
    • Learn about needs and wants/goods and services.
    • Identify the star-spangled banner (national anthem) and the statue of liberty as American symbols.
    In this unit, students will:
