March 11th - March 15th

This week we worked on retelling the story with the use of characters.  It was all about bears this week as we read and discussed Bear Snores On by Karma Wilson.  What does hibernate mean?  What do we know about bears?  We will continue writing simple stories as we begin to work on adding more details and making text-to-self connections.

We are well underway with assessments for the 3rd Quarter Report Card. If you want to know what we're assessing just look at my previous blog posts.

Vocabulary from the book:

lair- a den or resting place of a wild animal
scuttle- running or walking quickly
divvy- divide up and share
clutter- crowded together
fret- feeling worried
blustery- strong winds

STEM Project -- Get Rapunzel out of the tower after she cut off her braid.

Helpful technology at home:

Kids A-Z Login Instructions
Step 1: Go to www.kidsa-z.com
Step 2: Enter or choose the teacher's username, jrodgers4
Step 3: Their student number is their username and password

ReadingEggs is great for both reading and math! It is often our technology piece on homework.

The students can access ReadingEggs or MathSeeds once they login using their student ID number for both their username and password: https://readingeggs.com/

Save any sight word books or practice pages that come home and go over them as well as using flash cards.

Here are a couple websites to help with different strategies to use at home for sight words:
